I cant Drive a Train



My Residence Permit. No real explanation needed. 

I can't be a dentist or a doctor.
I can't drive a train.
I can't be a professional athlete.


 Anything else though. 
I CAN be a Secret Agent, Electrician, Prime Minister, 
Astronaut, Calculus Professor, Bank President, Film Director, 
Truck Driver,  Scuba Diver,  Nuclear Physicist, CPA
Barrister😀, or Tugboat Operator!!!

Swiss Alps Perfect Ski Weekend!

Jeff and I are always on the lookout for great weekend getaways, especially during London's dreary winters. We like to ski, so naturally a weekend in the Swiss Alps sounded intriguing. Why not head to Switzerland and see how the skiing compares to our native Lake Tahoe, California slopes? Sounds good to us! and the answer to that question is Switzerland wins : Longer runs, zero lift lines, ability to ski multiple resorts on one ticket. Brexit. done. next?

Yesterday was January 31, 2020, Brexit Day. But around London, it was all pretty quiet, a business-as-usual day.  Pretty anticlimactic,  considering the UK was a founding member of the European Union a lifetime-47 years-ago.  Nobody talking about Brexit, no sense of excitement in the air, not much going on except for a planned evening "Celebration" in Parliment Square. This lack of apparent celebration is so unlike the British, for whom it doesn't take much of a reason to celebrate, or set off fireworks anywhere (think Guy Fawkes Day, a November holiday in which Londoners crazily commemorate a day that a guy way back in 1605 tried to blow up Parliment). There were no fireworks last night on the Thames, no pots banging, whooping or singing on our quiet pedestrian street of Shad Thames. Brexit fatigue for sure. Magnificent Milos, Greece

When I think of an ultimate Greek vacation, I imagine pristine beaches, warm azure water, sun, and no crowds. Unfortunately, for summer travelers to some of the most popular islands, what they see are touristy villages and crowded beaches. Not so in Milos. With Milos, you are left speechless at every turn. Milos is an island of exquisite beauty and yet extreme simplicity. Milos is what I imagine Greece should be... the Greece of your parents' era, when crowds were unknown, and ohhhhh the beaches. Even though this island in the Cyclades region of Greece is quite small (only 60 square miles), there are over 70 beaches, each unique and beautiful. You'll also see rocky rainbow-colored cliffs  on the ocean's edge,  moon-like volcanic areas, and water eroded caves visited by pirates in the 1500's. It is just magnificent. And did I mention how blue the water is? Two full days here are not nearly long enough to partake in all that Milos has to offer...
